“Being
educated means having a better future” PROJECT
The
project “Being educated means having a better future”
began its development in the month of April. The Joseph Foundation
develops the project in partnership with The Direction for
Communitarian Assistance Iasi (DAC).
The
project is financed by The European Social Fund through the
Operational Program for the Development of the Human Resources
2007-2013 with the amount of 1 728 770 lei and is co-financed by the
Mayor’s office Iasi, through DAC with the amount of 37 500 lei
.The project’s main objective is: Improve the access and the
participation to education to vulnerable groups affected by early
abandonment of school, keep them in the school system, professionally
train them, involve them in the community life, improve school
attractiveness.
On a
practical way, through developing this project, from April 2010 until
March 2012, the access and participation to education will be
improved for 80 children from families with high abandonment risk in
Iasi.
The schools chosen to be part of the target group are: School „Ion
Neculce”, Scool „Vasile Conta, School „Virgil
Madgearu” and School „Gheoarghe Marzescu” .
The
objective will be reached through specific extra-curricula
educational activities and training services, psychological
counseling, social scholarships, the program “a second chance”,
social support through creating a support group made out of 30
parents with children at high risk of abandonment, and also the
training of 20 teachers in order to become
the ones who will facilitate the access to education and the reducing
of school abandonment for all vulnerable cathegories.
A media
campaign will also be made in order to reach the objective. It will
aim at making people (parents, teachers, local and central
authorities) aware of the consequences school abandonment has. At
three months after the beginning of the project we are in graphic
with all the activities.
The Foundation operates various independent activities which
interconnect to create the framework of our aims and objectives. The activities specific to each program are interdependent, yet they interconnect and work together to achieve our proposed objectives.
Our present active programs are an expression of our goals and desire to respect our statutory principles. They are the following:
These programs can only outline the activity of the "Joseph" Foundation, without being an exhaustive list. In many cases we are put face to face with situations in which we should intervene (and we do!) in ways that aren't specific to any of the programs mentioned above. We try to integrate these special cases into our organized activity as soon as possible.
…But these are our future projects, which we hope to accomplish as soon as possible.
