This was an representative program for the "Joseph" Foundation. It ended on the 31st of January 2005.
It is a program based on the protection of the child in difficulty, who cannot be protected by his own family from various reasons (economic-social problems, parents' medical problems or the abandonment of child by their biological parents).
Beginning with the summer of 1998 - when it took place the inauguration of the "Joseph" House - over 250 children have been sheltered here.
The "Joseph" House has the capacity to accommodate 25 children. Its organization and interior arrangements, as well as the staff structure, were thought out in order to create a pleasant environment which would be as close as possible to the family environment which we have as a model.
The "Joseph"House is a living and "alive" space, which permits the child to experience the joy of being unique. Here the children are being provided with shelter, food, education, medical and psycho-social assistance, but - to the same extent - they are given the affection they need in order to build up their personalities and make them, in turn, capable of loving "tomorrow's children".
The social reintegration of these children is an objective we are keen to pursue. We organize cultural-sportive activities to give the children a wide range of social contacts: artistic performances, sports contests, trips, visits to museums etc.
But none of these things describes sufficiently what the "Joseph" House really means both for us and for those who have benefitted from being sheltered within its warm walls. We only hope that the following photos as well as the life-stories of the children who had been in our care will better describe this phenomenon which we modestly call the "Joseph" House.
