1. What are the major changes brought about by the new legislation in the field of children in need, legislation that has to be obeyed beginning with January 2006?

Answer:
There are two categories of social services to be developed in 2006:
A). Primary social services: their purpose is to identify, monitor and inform the public opinion of the problems the local communities have to face.
B). Specialized social services: their purpose is to offer shelter, professional services of medical and psychological assistance, to all those persons in need in the local community.

2. What legal documents shall include the dossier of a person who wants to become a professional foster parent?

Answer:
The legal documents shall a person have in order to become a professional foster parent are:
a) Social investigation – hold by the social assistant of a legally recognized foundation
b) Psychological evaluation
c) Psychiatric evaluation
d) Criminal record (both for the wife and the husband)
e) Medical investigations
f) Medical history for all the members of the family
g) Legal status of all the members of the family (with regard to birth, marriage, etc.)
h) Copy of the document showing the source of money her house was bought with;
i) Statement where the husband declares that he agrees with his wife becoming a foster parent;
j) Confirmation for the biological children that they attend school;
k) Proof of the family monthly income;
l) Letters of recommendation (from the priest and others authorities)
m) Curriculum Vitae
n) Attending the 60 hours of foster family courses;
o) Taking the four-hour exam in order to graduate the course and obtain the certificate of professional foster parent;

3. Who can not become a foster parent?

Answer:
A person can not become a foster parent:

  • If she/he or any member of their family has ever been convicted
  • f she/he is a parent declined from her/his parental rights or if she/he has abandoned a child;
  • If they have children or relatives (till the 4th generation) who have abandoned a child;
  • If they have any disease;
  • If they are addicted to any substances;
